Sports, Culture and Arts Cabinet Secretary Dr. Hassan Wario flagged off the team that will represent Kenya today during the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.
Dr Wario promised the athletes winning bonuses of 1 Million Kshs, 500,000 kshs and 250,000 kshs for the podium victories in South Africa.
Dr Wario said,“Today marks another step in bringing pride to our country’s flag. We will be glad to see you go forth and win it for us too.”

The elite local runners confirmed for the race set for September 17th are Laban Mutai and Duncan Maiyo for the Men’s race. In the women’s race, Agnes Jepkemboi Kiprop and Doris Chepkwemoi Changeywo will be taking on the scenic course for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.
The Kenyan team will depart the country on thursday for the premier event this weekend.
