Singer and Queen Of Soul Aretha Louis Franklin passed away yesterday at 76 years of age. Her health was failing due to pancreatic cancer.Celebrities immediately took to social media to give a tribute to the Respect singer.
Former president Barack Obama said,”Aretha helped define African American culture.In her voice you could feel our history.May the Queen Of Soul soul rest in peace.”
Michelle Obama said,” Watching Aretha perform at the White House and on so many other occasions made time stand still.Barack and I are holding Aretha’s family in our hearts right now.She will forever be our Queen Of Soul.”
Adele said,”I can’t remember a day in my life without Aretha Franklin’s voice and music filling up my heart with so much joy and sadness.Absolutely heartbroken she is gone.”
Diana Ross said,”I’m sitting in prayer for the beautiful golden spirit Aretha Franklin.”
Beyonce and Jay z dedicated their concert in Detriot to Aretha Franklin and Beyonce also credited the singer in her recent Vogue interview as one the people who helped shape and influence her career.

The singer was the first woman to be inducted into the rocknroll hall of fame.She won several Soul Train Awards,18 Grammy Awards and a VH1 Diva Award.The singer also had a street named after her in Detroit.She was given the presidential medal of freedom by president George Bush and performed in Obama’s 2009 inauguration ceremony.The You make me feel singer also sang at Martin Luther King’s funeral.
The singer took the world by storm in 1961 when she released her first single Wont be long when she was only 18 years old.Her father was a well known pastor and her mother a singer and pianist.She leaves behind four sons.
