Henry Cavill, the actor who plays Superman is rumoured to have officially quit his job.According to close sources to the actor, Warner Bros will take seven years before releasing another Superman film and is currently focusing on a Supergirl film.
This did not sit well with the actor and after months of trying to convince the entertainment giant to create more roles for him they failed to see eye to eye on this matter forcing the actor to quit.
Mr.Cavill recently got a leading role in the Netflix series Witcher and should Cavill leave the role, he would be the second high-profile actor to be removed from the Warner Bros franchise after Ben Affleck reportedly quit as Batman.
Henry was supposed to make a cameo this year in Shazam as the Man Of Steel and has already played Superman in 3 films.
Warner Bros released a statement on the situation stating that no decision has been made at this time.
They said,“While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”
Cavill’s manager, Dany Garcia (The Rock’s ex-wife) also responded to the news, writing on Twitter: “Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. Warner Bros has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe.”
The initial report claimed that the breakdown in talks coincided with the studio’s desire to focus on Supergirl rather than Superman.
According to DC comics, Supergirl’s origin story features Superman as an infant suggesting the 35-year-old Cavill would not make an appearance in any Supergirl film.
