John Cena and Nikki Bella have officially called it quits after six years of dating. The couple famously called off their engagement in April for the first time just weeks before their wedding.
This is after Nicki’s sister Brie Bella had a daughter Birdie and Nicki realized that she wants children too. This was against what her and John had discuss earlier in their relationship. This change of heart is what made the female wrestler call off her wedding.
Nikki said,”After I called off the engagement, we tried to work on our relationship to get back to where it was, and in order to move forward with our wedding. After much time and soul-searching alone and together, we have decided to officially part ways.”
Bella 34 added in a statement on Monday night. “I had a beautiful and loving six-year relationship with a wonderful man. I have the utmost respect for John but I know this is what’s best for me.”
John Cena, 41 made several extremely public efforts to win Bella back, including a heartfelt “Today” show appeal to win her heart and even offered to reverse his vasectomy in an effort to make the relationship work, but to no avail. In May, Nikki hinted that she felt lost herself in her relationship with Cena.
The female wrestler stated,”I felt so much pressure from the cameras, the world, my family, John, and I think I started taking care of everyone and forgot about me.”
Cena hasn’t officially commented on the split, but tweeted Monday night, “If you can learn something from your experiences, good and bad, you will live with little to no regret.”
In the past Cena had long been adamant about never wanting to be a father, and never getting married again after divorcing first wife Elizabeth Huberdeau in 2012.
